Your Differentiation is the State you Create
Your real differentiation isn’t your tech. It’s the state you reliably create.
On paper, a lot of projects look similar:
👉 Same tools
👉 Same claims
👉 Same “innovation” language
But when experiencing it, people choose based on something else:
❓ Do I feel X after this?
❓ Do I trust what I just saw/listen?
❓ Do I feel safe, oriented, and able to act?
That’s not “vibe.” That’s design.
A useful prompt:
✅ “After someone experiences our project, they should leave feeling more X and less Y.”
If you can’t complete that sentence, your project is still decoration.
The next move is operational:
Pic 3 moments where that state must appear (onboarding, first friction, delivery, aftercare)
Specify it like a requirement
Decide what you refuse to induce (panic, shame, cheap intensity)
Pick one signal per moment (drop-off, recall, debrief language)
If you tell me your domain (VR / clinic / education / brand), I’ll reply with 3 candidate “more X / less Y” signatures that fit your context and one moment where it should show up first.
Best wishes,
Billy
